DCM Public School Akhnoor celebrates annual day.
AKHNOOR :– Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma has strongly advocated for introduction and making mandatory of moral education subject from the elementary level in all educational institutions to enrich moral ethics and to inspire the younger generation towards the patriotism and selfless service to the nation after completing their education.
Speaking at an annual day function of DCM Public School, Gurah Brahamana at Akhnoor, the Minister said that during the past over two decades the moral values have degraded in the society mainly due to contemporary universal educational trends and “our students and teachers are strictly following the competitive trends to prepare them to lead in their role to become officers/engineers and to earn good money.
Reminding the teachers and parents their role in nurturing the character of the students, the Minister said that duo must work together to build the future of the children so that they can sustain make a respectable place in the society with the dint of their hard work, honesty, dedication and above all preserving the moral ethics of rich heritage and values of Indian civilization which is our unique identification. “We have to work in unison to inspire our younger generation towards their duties and responsibilities towards the society and nation” said the Minister, adding that younger generation is future of our better tomorrow.
Lauding the role of private sector for their efforts to universalize the education, the Minister said that private institutions are doing commendable job in providing quality education, especially in the rural and sub-urban. He maintained that Government has also focused equally on this important sector and said that a massive infrastructure has been developed for this purpose. He said during the past over one decade a strong network of schools has been developed across the State to ensure education to the children at their doorsteps. The literacy rate has also improved tremendously, particularly among the female, which is must for the prosperity and development of the society as well as nation, he add.
Sham appreciated the performance of DCM Public School in academic as well as in co-curricular activities. He asked the management to ensure daily morning lecture on moral education to the students to inspire them towards strengthening the bonds of mutual brother-hood and promoting national unity.
Chairman of School, Mr. Sat Pal Sharma in his welcome address highlighted the achievements of the schools and steps initiated to further improve the education scenario. He said the management is committed to provide best of education with modern trends by promoting the moral values. He hoped that the school will achieve its heights in the region very soon.
The students presented a colorful bonanza of cultural items based on national integration, communal harmony and social evils, which were highly appreciated by the jam packed audience.
The Minister also distributed prizes among the students who excelled in different activities. He also gave mementoes to the guests.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, academician and Commissioner Scouts and Guides, Mr. I.D.Soni, Principal Army Public School, Akhnoor, K.C.S. Mehta, officers of various departments, large number of students, parents and senior citizens of the area.
Later, the Minister visited to Home of mentally retarded persons and took stock of the facilities available in the House. He interacted with the caretakers and inmates and distributed sweets and other essential items. He issued instructions to the officers to ensure all basic amenities to the inmates.
He also participated in a Christmas programme organized in Christian Colony, Akhnoor and exchanged Christmas greetings with the Christian brethren.
