RAMBAN: – District Development Commissioner, Ramban, M H Malik, today distributed Rs. 8.70 lakh among 29 poor girls of the district for solemnizing their marriage during an impressive function orgainsed by Social Welfare Department at Ramban.
District Social Welfare Officer, Ramban, V. S. Charak and CDPO Ramban were also present on the occasion.
DSWO, while interacting with the beneficiaries, told that these unmarried matriculate BPL girls had applied under a welfare scheme during the month of March 2014. He revealed that this assistance is being given to the deserving applicants at the rate of Rs 30,000.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC told that the government is providing assistance to the needy downtrodden section of the society through various schemes of the Social Welfare department. He appealed to the people to come forward and take benefit of these schemes.
Regarding the financial assistance being provided to the unmarried matriculate BPL girls, DDC told that this financial assistance should be utilized for the purpose for which it has been meant.
On this occasion, the DDC directed all the concerned officers to arrange awareness programmes among the masses regarding these welfare schemes so that more and more people can take benefit of the same.
