UDHAMPUR: Over 84,000 children in the age group of 0-5 years would be administered Oral Polio Vaccine during Pulse Polio immunization drive to be organized on January 19, 2013 in Udhampur district. It was revealed during meeting of officers to discuss the proper implementation of Pulse Polio Campaign in the district.
The meeting of District Task Force Committee was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mrs. Yasha Mudgal here today.
While speaking in the meeting, the DDC directed the officials to focus on high risk areas including slums and nomadic population where chances of polio are on the higher side. She stressed the need for involving Sarpanches and Panches to make the campaign a grand success. She exhorted upon the officers of Health, ICDS, Social Welfare and Education Departments to put in their sincere and coordinated efforts to make the district polio free.
Joint Director P&S, Rakesh Jamwal, Project Officer, ICDS, Mrs. Nirupa Rai, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Arun Sharma, Superintendent DH, Dr. Chander Parkash, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Santosh Sharma, Secretary Red Cross, Dr. V.P Singh, Representative of Rotary Club and other officers of concerned department attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Chief Medical Officer apprised that as many as 540 vaccination booths would be setup in different parts of the district during the campaign. He further said 111 supervisors, 05 District Monitors and 06 Block Monitors are being appointed for the smooth conduct of the programme.
The Deputy CMO said that special awareness campaign for generating awareness among the general public would also be launched a week prior to through different medium like drum beating, involvement of NGOs, social organizations, ASHA & Aganwadi Works.
