DDC kick-starts plantation drive at Baramulla


BARAMULLA : In connection with 39thWorld Arbor Day, a function was organized by the Social Forestry Division Baramulla at Government Degree College Baramulla today. District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone was the chief guest and the function was attended by Principal Govt Degree College, Mr. Irshad Ahmad Wani, Divisional Forest Officer Social Forestry division Baramulla, College students, concerned officials and the locals.
The District Development Commissioner started the plantation drive by planting a tree in the premises of the Govt Degree College Baramulla.DC Baramulla-World Arbor Day-25
Giving details, the Divisional Forest Officer said that the plantation drive on 62 hectares of land has been completed in the district,in which 8015 plants were provided free. Under this drive Social Forestry is going to plant near about 2 lakh plants within the district.
The District Development Commissioner, on this occasion stressed to take part in plantation drive both jointly and individually so that a congenial atmosphere and environment is created. He said that everyone should participate in the drive to prevent global disruption and to boost the economy of the country.
A debate was also conducted for which commendation certificates and prizes were distributed among the position holders.
