DDC reviews Diwali arrangements in Reasi
Reasi : Diwali arrangements were reviewed in a meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today. Measures put in place for safety of citizens as well quality control of food items were also discussed.
Sale of crackers has been allowed from 28th October upto 4PM on day of the festival. Six fire tenders have been deployed in Reasi, Katra, Jyotipuram and Pouni while contingency plans for other places have been put in place. Teams of Police officers, CA&PD, Drug and Food control accompanied by magistrates shall inspect markets on regular basis to ensure quality of food and destroying substandard or adulterated items. DDC directed for imposing heavy fine on establishments found selling adulterated food items. Announcement will be made through loudspeakers for information about fire safety, sale of crackers and location as well as contact numbers of ambulances and fire tenders which will also be displayed at prominent places.
New Bus Stand Katra, Sports Stadium Reasi and Sports ground Jyotipuram have been designated for installation of cracker stalls. Procedure to obtain permission for installation of crackers has been decentralised for convenience of public. Now permission will be accorded by Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar.
Special squads have also been constituted to check over charging of commodities especially at Katra and Ransoo where thousands of pilgrims visit every day.
PHE and Power Development departments have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply on the day of festival. Education department was directed to create awareness about Green Diwali and motivate students. Officers of district administration will also celebrate Diwali with inmates at district jail and orphanage in the town.
Health department will deploy doctors and paramedical staff at various places and make half a dozen ambulances available at various locations.
Elaborate security arrangement has been made for all the sensitive places and an emergency plan also put in place. SSP informed that due to security alert across state extra deployment has been kept on standby and comprehensive security plan was discussed. Ten magistrates will coordinate security arrangements at various locations.
