Baramullah, Aug 3: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police north Range, Gareeb Das confirmed that a militant body has been recovered along with a pistol, 1-magzine and 13 rounds from a flood channel at Gulabwari in Naidkhai.
Das said that police is investigating all the angles about the cause of his death; however, initial investigations revealed that the deceased had died due to drowning.
Whether the deceased was part of militant group who attacked police party in Mirgund Pattan on Friday evening resulted in injury to three cops and a driver is also being investigated.
So far the deceased has not been identified and the body lies with the Sumbal Police, Das added.
Meanwhile, sources told that the deceased is one among the two militants who attacked police party at Mirgund Pattan on Friday.
They identified the militant as Tariq Ahmad Mawer son of Ghulam Mohd Mir, belonged to newly emerged militant outfit Lashkar-i-Islam, the militant outfit is said to be behind the recent attacks on mobile towers in north and central Kashmir.
