Defence Minister NirmalaSitharaman would be on a 2-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir beginning on Monday to review the security situation in the state, an official said on Saturday.
He said the Defence Minister would reach Srinagar on September 18 and would also visit Line of Control in Jammu’s Poonch district on September 19.
This would be her maiden visit to J&K after assuming the charge as Defence Minister of India. “The Defence Minister will review the security situation in Kashmir and take stock of anti-militancy operations on the first day of her tour in Srinagar,” the official added.
As per drawn schedule she would visit LoC in Poonch on Tuesday, he said.
A source said that Army Chief General BipinRawat would also accompany the Defence Minister during her 2-day tour to J&K.
