Nowshera: MLC Mr. Ravinder Sharma-Spokesperson PCC urge upon the government to speed up the rescue and relief operations to save the precious lives.
Mr. Sharma who is camping at Lam area of Nowshera Constituency and monitoring the rescue operation in the area said that there was heavy loss of lives and property of the people in the recent havoc rains and floods in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Most of the roads, link roads and bridges have been washed in the floods. Many houses either collapsed or damaged and many others washed away in the floods. There was heavy loss of crops, cattle and other house hold goods in the heavy rains.
He appreciated the role of District Administration Rajouri and Army who has been working tirelessly in the rescue and relief operations for the last one weak, but due to short of resources it requires more reinforcement.
He said that due to Bus tragedy at Lam near about 70 people have lost their lives and twenty dead bodies which have not been recovered so far might have crossed over to Pakistan in the flood. He appealed to the government to take up the matter with the Pakistan authorities to look for these dead bodies and return them if recovered.
Mr. Sharma expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of roads and link roads in Rajouri District which are being maintained by the BRO and said that most of the accidents occur due to bad condition of roads. He urged upon the BRO authorities to gear up construction/repair work of roads and bridges in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
He also demanded supply of free ration to the flood affected people of the state for three months and suggested deployment village level field staff including Lamberdar’s and Chowkidar’s in the relief operations.
