Jammu April 17: Under instructions from Soujanya Sharma, KAS, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu, the Enforcement Staff led by the Chief Enforcement Officers undertook a day long extensive drive against encroachers and violators to clear the footpaths / pavements causing obstruction in the free flow of vehicular traffic and also hampering the movement of pedestrians which besides encroachments was also a source of traffic jams. During the drive the team took the following action:
I. The team alongwith Enforcement Staff of Jammu Development Authority in joint move demolished 14 no’s of structures erected upon footpaths which include permanently fixed ‘rehries‘ at Rail Head Complex near Police Martyr Memorial and seized 05 No’s of truck loads of material from the spot. The police from Trikuta Nagar, Police Station and from District Police Lines, Jammu rendered all the necessary assistance to the Enforcement Staff while removing the encroachments from there.
The General Public appreciated the move taken by the Teams jointly to clear the bottle neck that had caused traffic jams and hoped that the action taken would help in a long way for the smooth flow to regulate the traffic in the said area.
II. Thereafter, the enforcement Staff demolished the platform raised in a part of Lane in front of H. No: 295, Sec No: 2, Channi Himmat, Jammu against which the residents of locality were raising objections.
III. An ongoing construction found being raised unauthorizedly in the rear and side setbacks of the plot at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu has been demolished on spot.
IV. The State Land near Sewerage Treatment Plant at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu has been retrieved by removing and demolishing the fence erected by encroachers and thus saved the State Land from the clutches of encroachers.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General Public to refrain from making encroachments and unauthorized constructions otherwise action as admissible under rule leading to demolition / sealing will be taken.
