Dental surgeons hunger strike continues, enters 17th day
Dental Surgeons Association Jammu Kashmir (DSA-JK) today on 17-07-2014 continued their Dharna for 17th consecutive day and Chain Hunger Strike of Female Dental Surgeons at Amphalla Chowk, Jammu.
Dr. Pawan Singh Jasrotia, the Chairman of the association said that despite being on roads for 17 days, we are still awaiting any positive response from the govt. side . Female hunger strike which entered its 5th day today is also not able to awake the govt. from its deep slumber yet.
Dr. Singh further said that all these agitating doctors were meritorious students who were given admission in dental stream through various entrance examinations. These Students who had the potential to excel in any field are now left jobless after doing dental studies, because of the inability of govt. to absorb them on timely basis .
Continuing the female chain hunger strike, today Dr. Avni Ghai is sitting on fast & carrying this movement forward . Dr. Singh reminded the Govt. that this agitation is not going to end till their demands are met and will take more aggressive turn in coming days.
The demands of the association are –
1) Complete absorption of unemployed dental youth.
2) Recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis.
3) Establish separate directorate for dental health in the state.
