UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Yasha Mudgal who is also the District Election Officer, convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties of the Udhampur district at DC Office, here today.
District Election Officer said that elections for the JK Legislative Assembly 2014 have been announced by the Election Commission of India and the schedule of elections for district consisting of three assembly constituencies- Udhampur-60, Chenani-61 and Ramnagar-62 has been issued.
She said that according to the schedule, the notification for filling the nominations of election would be issued on November 7, last date for filling of nomination is November 14 besides scrutiny of nominations will take place on November15. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 17, and the day of polling of the three constituencies is December 2.
She informed them about the important aspects of election viz Expenditure Monitoring, Media Certification and Monitoring and Model Code of Conduct.
The aim was to inform the party representatives about the important aspects related to election and to seek their support for an effective electoral process. She impressed upon the parties to seek certification of political advertisements in the electronic media from the District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC). She drew their attention that ECI has laid special emphasis on monitoring paid news.
DEO asked the representatives of political parties to strictly follow MCC guidelines and strictly adhere to the directions issued by the Election Commission of India in letter and spirit. Violations of any such directions and MCC guidelines will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the violators, she said.
The meeting was attended by SSP Suleman Chowdary, ADC Vikas Sharma, ACR, Rajiv Magotra, ACD, Pawan Parihar, Election Naib Tehsildar and representatives of various political parties of the district.
