Suspected militants looted an Automated Teller Machine in Jammu and Kashmir’s capital Srinagar hours before an attack on the police at a hospital on Tuesday, sources believe.
A police officer concerned while confirming the incident said that a State Bank of India cash machine was broken in and over Rs 23 lakhs were looted during the intervening night in Karanagar which is in the vicinity of the hospital where militants attacked a police team and managed to help a jailed Lashkar-e-Toiba militant flee on Tuesday.
He said a case under FIR no. 07/2018 under section 457, 380 was registered and investigations launched to nab the persons involved in the incident.
The official said that the police are also investigating whether or not the robbery was carried by same persons who helped LeT commander Naveed Jat escape from SMHS hospital amid shootout that left two policemen dead.
