DIG Jammu organizes awareness camp on road safety

DIG Jammu21DOMANA – In order to reduce fatal road accidents and to save precious human lives Shri Shakeel Ahmed Beig, IPS DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range today organized road safety awareness camp at Domana under Civic Action Programme. Shri Arvind Kotwal, RTO Jammu also attended the awareness Camp. The DIG Jammu was accompanied Sh. Rajnish Pran, SP Staff Officer to DIG Jammu, Sh. Mohan Lal Kaith SP Hqrs. Sh.Parshotam Sharma, Dy. Director Prosecution, Sh. Sanjay Kumar Parihar SDPO Domana.
DIG Jammu while speaking on the occasion said that road user especially motorcyclist and pedestrian must remember that road safety is everyone’s responsibility as the fatal road accidents generally are caused by over speeding, rash and negligent driving, over loading, use of mobile phone, drunken driving, poor condition of motor vehicle. DIG Jammu further said that beside inculcating road safety sense among road users, onus also lies with the children to strongly urge upon their parents/family members to use helmets while driving two wheelers especially of ISI trade mark of appropriate sizes as well as to follow traffic rules in letter and spirit. DIG Jammu also said that awareness programmes on road safety shall also be organized in various towns of Jammu Range under Civic Action Programme with a view to inculcate sense of road safety among road user including transporters, drivers, pedestrian as well as students with a view to groom them up into responsible road using citizens. The programme was followed by a debate on road safety in which various school children participated.
Arvind Kotwal, RTO Jammu also spoken on the occasion and made aware the students/transporters/drivers about the traffic rules as well as norms to be followed for preparation of Driving Licenses.
DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range gave away the trophies to Miss. Sharmika Raina 9th Class Saint Xevior School, Master Anmol class 9th Ranjit Memorial High School and Hansija Sharma class 11th Saint Xevior school, who were declared Ist, 2nd and 3rd respectively in debate on road safety and also given away consolation prizes to Miss. Shajia Khurshid student Jammu Aurvedic College Jammu, Miss. Muskan Anand class 9th Saint Xevior School, Master Surya 9th class Ranjit Memoral High School, Master Sajid Hussain 9th Conventary Scholars School Chinore, Shardha Dutt 9th class Saint Xevior School.
