JAMMU,JAN 5: District magistrate today ordered probe into complaint recieved on whatsapp group. The complaint was made by Sanjit Khajuria, ex-director, doordarshan.
He purchased some items from Sarwal supermarket a few days ago. He got a bill of Rs. 327, which he paid through his credit card. But, when he checked, an amount of Rs. 334 was debited from his account.
With ‘cashless’ wave in full boom in India, he resorted to paying his grocery bill through digital mode, alas he was charged 7 rupees extra for the transaction. When he inquired on extra this cut, the shopkeeper said that the amount has been charged by the bank.
When District magistrate Simrandeep Singh recieved the complaint in his whatsapp group, he personally took stock of the matter and after the inquiry it was found out that it was the merchant and not the bank which had charged extra bucks.
An FIR against the sopkeeper has been registered in this regard.
