Minister for Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh while replying to a question by Mr. Sham Lal Bhagat in the Legislative Council said the department appoints MBBS doctors on recommendations of J&K Public Service Commission. He said MBBS doctors are also engaged by the State Health Society under National Health Mission (NHM) for CHCs and PHCs of Jammu division on regular basis to meet the shortage.
Firdous Ahmed Tak, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, Romesh Arora, Naresh Gupta, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone and Sofi Yousuf raised supplementaries to the main question.
Replying to another question by Dr Shahnaz Ganai, the Health Minister said a proposal for establishment of Model Hospital in each constituency including SDH Mandi is being framed for consideration of Planning and Finance Departments.
The Minister further informed the House that at present there is no proposal for opening evening clinics at the Government Hospitals of the State.
With regard to status of ambulances in district Poonch, the Minister said 48 ambulances presently available in health institutions in the district are road worthy and functional. He added that PHCs at Harni, Chatryal and Dhargloon and NTPHCs at Sarthra, Pleara, Dubaraj, Serikhawaja, Lathong, Haribudha, Marha and Sangla are without ambulances. He said as per norms, ambulances are not provided to Sub-Centers.
