JAMMU: Dogra Sadar Sabha & J&K Ex-Services League organized a programme to pay homage to the martyrs who attained the supreme sacrifices by laying down their life while defending the Nation in general and this trouble torn state in particular while fighting the inimical forces.
As per the decision taken in the meeting of Dogra Sadar Sabha and Ex-services League to pay homage to the martyrs of the Armed Force – Army, Navy & Air Forces who laid down their lives in J&K State and also Dogra soldiers who laid down their lives outside the State. The 1st homage ceremony was performed today at 6:00 PM at Balidan Stambh, Bahu Wali Rakh, Jammu to remember the martyrs of Pampore Kashmir who laid down their lives last week. One of them was a great Dogra Capt. Tushar Mahajan resident of District Udhampur of the 9 Para Commando. The Dogras of Jammu are well known for their martial spirits and soldierly qualities.
They are grateful to the soldiers of this great nation who have scarified thousands of lives for the country and in the defence of this State during 20 years of militancy whose names are enshrined at Balidan Stambh Memorial.
Former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak, President Dogra Sadar Sabha accompanied by Maj. Gen. (Retd.) G. S. Jamwal paid rich tributes to the martyrs. Two minutes silence was also observed to pay respect to the martyrs.
To show their appreciation and solidarity with them and the Nation in their grief, the members of the Dogra Sadar Sabha and J&K Ex Services League alongwith students, staff of Dogra Law College, Rich Harvest Schools, Dogra Degree College, Dogra Hr. Sec. School, VoD and various other organizations staged a candlelight march in remembrance of the martyrs of Pampore terror attack. Large number of people from different walks of life alongwith their families came out to pay homage to the martyrs by offering wreath flowers and lighting the candles at the Balidan Stambh.
