Double railway track between Jammu, Katra soon

The Northern Railway is all ready to set up double railway track between Jammu and Katra. The decision has been finalised. But, since the project is colossal, it will take time to prepare the blueprint.

The railway track between Jammu and Katra is a historic track in itself and  has been appreciated worldwide. This track which is 78 km long encompasses around 50 tunnels  and 100 bridges. It is pertinent to note that, it took northern railway more than 30 years to start rail service between Jammu and Katra. Therefore, it is quite palpable that this entire project of double-laning will be a great challenge for the railways.

Katra railway station has made it easy for the pilgrims to reach Mata Vaishno Devi directly but due to single railway track the trains had to halt at Ramnagar and Udhampur railway stations for hours.
