Dr.Jtender Singh launches ‘Save the Girl Child’ Poster of Sampark Economical Development Society

MOS (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh launched the ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign poster of Sampark Economical Development Society here today.

The poster was launched by NGO to generate awareness among the common masses about the campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, the MoS emphasized on women empowerment and said that it plays a key factor in achieving economic growth and social development and without it; the agenda of sustainable development cannot be fulfilled.

He said that the Prime Minister has launched various welfare schemes aiming towards empowering women and their welfare is a constant part of the national and the state schemes and policies.

Underlining the importance of girl education, Dr Singh said that the initiatives like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan’ laid a special focus on generating awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls.

While appreciating the effort of Society, Dr Singh said that organizations like Sampark Economical Development Society have come forward for spreading awareness among the masses on the crucial social issue.

President, Sampark Economical Development Society, Nisha Verma informed the MOS about the activities being carried out by the NGO in connection with ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign.

She further informed that the organization has been working in the field of socio economic development to give benefit to the SC/ST, weaker section of the society, poor masses especially women, Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribes.

This organization has conducted Educational/Training Programmes, Seminars/Awareness Camps (National Integration, Anti drugs, Population control, Save Girl Child Campaign, Aids Programme, Sports programme ,Child & Women health care etc.) throughout the remote/Border Areas of Jammu and Kashmir State, she added.
