SRINAGAR: Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council held a meeting under the chairmanship of MLC Mr. Sajad Ahmad Kichloo to review the functioning of Estates Department.
Members of the Committee, MLC Mr. Showkat Hussain Ganai, Mr. Javid Ahmad Mirchal, Mr. Sham Lal Bhagat and Mr.Jugal Kishore attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions for further improving its functioning.
It was informed in the meeting that the department is providing accommodation to about 4000 move employees at Jammu. It was also informed that 105 media persons in the state have been provided accommodation in twin capital cities.
The Principal Secretary further said that the government has a plan to demolish the old residential quarters of Estates Department in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar with the aim to construct multi-storey residential quarters.
It was further informed that the department is framing a new policy for allotment of residential quarters. The new guideline for procurement is also under the consideration of the government.
Later, Chairman of the Committee Mr. Sajad Ahmad Kichloo also visited the Legislative Council Secretariat Hall and instructed the concerned officers to renovate the Council Hall before start of the ensuing Legislature Session.
Among others, Director Estates Department Dr. G. N. Itoo, Deputy Director Estates, Srinagar Mr. Waseem Raja, Deputy Director Estates Jammu Mr. Satish Sharma, Managing Director and General Manager of SICOP, Xen of Estates department Srinagar and Jammu besides Secretary Legislative Council and other senior officers of the Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
