Drug peddler held with over 4600 prescription drug bottles at Sangam: SSP Anantnag
Anantnag: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered a huge quantity of prescription drugs on his instance at Sangam. This was said by SSP Anantnag Zubair Ahmad Khan in press conference at police post Sangam today afternoon.
Speaking to the media SSP said that following a tip off about the transportation of drugs, a police party headed by DO Police Post Sangam Mohammad Ashraf under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara Tanveer Ahmad laid a Naka at Sangam bridge. Police party intercepted the suspected vehicle bearing registration number JK05/6704 at Sangam Bridge. On checking of the vehicle police recovered 39 boxes consisting of 4680 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, he added.
SSP said that both driver and conductor of the vehicle have been arrested. He identified them as identified as Majid Abaas Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani a resident of Rakhi Shilwet Tehsil Sumbal and Tawfeeq Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Salam Parray a resident of Wangipora Sumbal.
A case FIR 21/2017 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered against them and further investigation has been taken up, he added
