JAMMU, APRIL 11 – The Drugs & Food Control Organization, in its endeavor to ensure efficient regulatory control, today conducted surprise check of chemists and druggists in various localities of the district.
Pertinently, three teams comprising Inspectorate Staff under the supervision of Superior Officers have been constituted to conduct this exercise. The main objective of the drive was to ensure strict adherence by drug vendors to the critical parameters that can alter the efficiency/properties of medicines during transit/storage.
During the drive, more than sixty establishments were inspected and action was initiated against 10 firms for breach of provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 & rules there-under.
As part of action against erring agencies, M/s Mahaveer Medicate, Janipur Colony; M/S Satguru Medicos, Sarwal ; M/s Maa Care Medicate, Sarwal; M/s Madho Lal Zindal Lal, R.N Pura; M/s Magotra Medical Agencies, Mohalla Paharian; M/s Jammu Pharmaceuticals, Mohalla Paharian, Jammu; M/s Shivangi Medicate, Kachhi Chawni; M/s Satisar Enterprises, Janipur Colony; M/s Aar Bee Pharmaceuticals, Mohalla Paharian; M/s Krishna Enterprises, Mohalla Paharian, Jammu have been served show cause notice.
Moreover, statutory drug samples of more than 40 formulations viz Antibiotics, Proton Pump Inhibitors, Steroid, Anti Inflammatory, Analgesic etc have been taken to check the identity, strength and purity of these medicines through Drug Testing Laboratories.
The team sensitized the dealer for evolving a proper approach for dispensing of various categories of drugs and maintaining records thereof as per law. Besides, strict instructions were issued for proper disposal of expired drugs.
