Citizen Report By Citizen Journalist: Parveen Verma
On one side, JMC is launching all sorts of drives and workshop under the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ scheme launched by Prime Minister, on the other side the dustbins which should be installed at various areas of the city lie defunct near Jogi Gate clearly narrates the story of JMC’s ignorant attitude.
Heaps of garbage can be found all over the city, but the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) appears to be unaware of the mess. The absence of containers in several localities has led to the worsening of the situation with foul smell engulfing the surrounding localities.
As Jammu city is facing dearth of garbage containers, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has abandoned around 30 such containers near Jogi Gate. These containers are not being used by JMC in Jammu city where the garbage lies on roads, lanes and by-lanes, causing problems to residents. For the past more than a year, these containers have been lying on the roadside.
There are still scores of areas of Jammu city where containers haven’t been installed by JMC. People still throw waste on the road, which can lead to severe health problems. JMC besides the availability of the containers has failed to install them at appropriate areas.
