Police in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday claimed to have foiled the attempts of eight youth to join militant ranks.
Last week, four more youth were prevented from joining militant groups.
“After receiving the information about their fleeing from their homes, police parties were sent to different locations. The parents of the missing boys and their relatives were also involved who have also played the positive role for their motivation and providing timely information with regard to their contact numbers and other details,” said the spokesman.
The spokesman said that the reasons behind leaving their homes were poor lifestyle and reprimand from parents for poor performance in studies.
“All the rescued boys have been properly counselled and motivated for their re-union with the families,” he added.
