Srinagar, 30 March 2015: The valley is rallying under the threat of a September floods-like situation again and there has been manifold damage already even as Jhelum flows over the danger mark in Srinagar.
Omar Abdullah while addressing media-persons here has condemned the PDP-BJP coalition by calling the decision to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir when the first priority should have been the rehabilitation of those people who lost everything in the september floods along with recovery by helping these people get their lives back on track.
Omar said, “The present coalition was in a hurry to orchestrate the elections in time even when we (National Conference) repeatedly decried the decision.”
He further added, “We had categorically appealed to the EC as well that the rehabilitation of those who have lost their homes and livelihoods should be the first priority and that elections should be delayed.”
Expressing concern over the flood-like situation Omar said, “Even after our repeated appeals the present coalition and the EC did not address our concerns and the results are in front of you. The relief packages have not as yet reached those who lost everything in the September floods and now there are these floods which are wreaking havoc in the state.”
