Er Abdul Gani Kohli join Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)
Jammu: Senior social worker and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Er Abdul Gani Kohli today joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of party state president Jugal Kishore Sharma and other senior leaders.
Kohli has a vast experience in politics and played an important role in completing several civic projects while serving as Civil Engineer in J&K government.
Large number of people accompanied Kohli who has a large following in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and has worked for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden members of society.
He was welcomed by the BJP state president Jugal Kishore Sharma and other leaders who termed his entry in the party as great event because of Kohli’s vast experience in public life. Speaking on the occasion, Kohli said that BJP is the party of the masses and the recent Lok Sabha elections have proved the it is the party of the masses.
“I have decided to join the party because of its agenda of development and working for the weaker sections of the society”, he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kohli has served state government as civil engineer for over 32 year in different areas of the state. To his credit is working on the project to create water supply scheme at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
For his work and dedication to complete the water supply project at Vaishno Devi shrine, he was awarded certificate of merit by Governor of J&K. In the academician and social activity, Kohli has worked for the socially marginalized people.
As a Chairman of B.N. College of Education, he promoted the education and gave opportunity to the poorer section of societies. He is also the president of the J&K State Seerat-un-Nabi conference, president Muslim Co-ordination Committee, Jammu, executive member of JPP forum and state member of J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Advisory Board.
He visited universities of China and Malaysia along with eminent educationist of the country. He has also worked in several European countries under Colombo plan for water supply and sanitation.
