Ex Servicemen thank BJP govt for revision of pension of pre-7th CPC retirees: Brig Gupta

7th CPC in its report had recommended that the revised pension of Defence Forces personnel who retired prior to 01.01.2016 will be calculated by multiplying the pension fixed at the time of implementation of 6thCPC by 2.57. If the government would have accepted this recommendation of the 7th CPC, it would have negated the benefit of One Rank One Pension (OROP) announced by the Modi government. The NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi had conceded a four decade old demand of the ex-servicemen by announcing the grant of OROP that had been widely welcome by the majority of the ex-servicemen across the country. OROP was implemented wef 01 Jul 2014 which had resulted in huge financial benefit to all sections of ex-servicemen. However, the recommendation of the 7th CPC came as a rude shock to the veterans said Brig Anil Gupta, ex-state convener of the ex-servicemen cell and currently the State Spokesperson of BJP.

According to Brig Gupta he was approached by large number of veterans to approach the government to resolve this anomaly because the recommendation of the Pay Commission if accepted by the government would result in huge financial loss to the ex-servicemen and the widows including Veer Naris. “The matter was brought to the notice of party leadership both at the state and central level. Dr.Jitendra Singh MOS, PMO was also approached. He promptly took upon himself the responsibility to have it resolved with the government. Dr Singh referred the matter to the RakshaMantri Manohar Parrikar. Meanwhile, our state President Sat Sharma, CA and General Secretary (org) Ashok Kaul raised the issue with the national president Amit Shah Ji. The combined effort of all the leaders was successful in convincing the government about the retrograde effect of the 7th CPC recommendation. Prime Minister issued the orders for modifying the recommendation of the 7th CPC and accept the plea of the veterans to fix the revise pension by multiplying the pension as on 31.12.2015 by 2.57. With this decision the ex-servicemen will not be deprived of the benefits accrued due to OROP.”
