Excise Deptt destroyed bhung in South Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to destroy the bhung, the Excise Department has destroyed bhung on 200 kanals in Dupatyar and its adjacent villages in South Kashmir today.

            The Deputy Excise Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Shabnam said that besides South Kashmir the campaign against bhung has been started in Central and North Kashmir also which have been stopped due to heavy flood in the Valley. He said the departmental functionaries have been revamped and directions have been issued to take stringent action against poppy growers.

            Mr. Shabnam asked the land owners to destroy the bhung from their fields at their own and avoid the action under rules. Seeking people’s cooperation to eradicate various social evils from the society, Mr. Shabnam instructed the people to register their complaints on phone No. 9419041102 and 0194-2311336.
