National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah is always in news and most of the time it is not for right reasons.
But on Saturday, Abdullah struck a right note, quite literally!
National Conference chief and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah on Saturday sang a Bhajan – “More Ram” – at Zee India Conclave. “Despite being a Muslim, I am very attached to Ram,” he said.
After repeated requests by Zee News anchor, Abdullah sang a few verses from a bhajan at Zee India Conclave.
During the conclave, speaking at a slew of issues, he held both Pakistan and anti-nationalism, equally responsible for the threat to the country. “Biggest threat is our internal threat. It’s WE who must think that we have to save our nation,” he said.
Asserting that Kashmir is an integral part of India, he promised to bring the Kashmiri Pandits back home. On the other hand, he also claimed that India cannot get back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
While answering a question on Kashmir issue, he said that it can be resolved only through talks. He said that the idea of divide and rule must be taken out of our hearts if we want to bring peace in the Valley.
Towards the end of the bhajan, Abdullah became emotional and appealed to the people for peace in the country.
“Agar desh banana hai to nafrat ko dafan karo (If you want to build a country, bury the hatred),” he said.
