Leh, March 22: The mortal remains of our martyr, Sepoy Vijay Kumar has been moved by air at 1055 hours from Leh to Delhi after a brief wreath laying ceremony at Leh.
After almost two days of a gruelling rescue operation, the Army was able to locate the body of Sepoy Vijay Kumar K in the Kargil heights, buried under 12 feet of snow. The avalanche that buried Vijay Kumar was caused by a mild earthquake.
At Delhi, the Chief of Army Staff is paying tributes to our young martyr in a solemn ceremony being organised at 1330 hours.
The mortal remains will reach Thiruvananthapuram by air by 2240 hours. From Thiruvanathapuram, the martyr will undertake his final journey by road to his home town in Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu).
Cremation is planned on 23 March.
