First e-court inaugurated in J&K
SRINAGAR: With an aim to digitise the judiciary, Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Badar Durrez today inaugurated the first e-court here.
The first paperless e–court Srinagar (wing) in the state will start functioning from next week and will use digitised case records, thereby bringing down paper and space required to maintain the records, an official spokesman said here.
Justice Durrez thanked Chief Secretary B B Vyas for the quick response and providing timely funds for the completion of the project, which took only four months to accomplish.
The spokesman said the e- courtwould provide an electronic case list (e-case list) before the presiding judge to make digital noting on a computer that has electronic case records.
The case records and notings would be synchronised in the available database.
“It is the memorable and historic day in the state when the whole world is digitised we are not now behind digital revolution,” Justice Durrez said.
“Digitisation of records will help to keep our records up to date as well as the records will not vanish because of natural disasters like we witnessed earlier in 2014 floods,” he said.
