Five schemes by Modi govt that every woman should know about

Empowerment of women is a process that leads women to realise their full potential, their rights to have access to opportunities, resources and choices with the freedom of decision making both within and outside home. From time to time, different governments have come up with various schemes for the welfare of women of the country. Looking back the last two years, Modi government has launched various schemes and policies for women empowerment.
This Raksha Bandhan, gift social security schemes to sisters. Here are some schemes for women that NDA government has launched:

Stand up India scheme

It was launched on 3rd April,2016.Under this scheme banks will give loans of up to Rs.1 crore to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SCs/STs) and women entrepreneurs. The Stand up India Scheme is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among SC/ST and women and is expected to benefit large number of such entrepreneurs.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme

It was launched on 1st May,2016.It aims to provide five crore LPG connections to women in Below Poverty Line (BPL) households over the next three financial years, at a cost of Rs. 8,000 crore.Providing LPG connections to BPL households will ensure universal coverage of cooking gas in the country and this will empower women and protect their health.

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana

It was launched on 22nd January 2015.This scheme aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. The scheme was launched with an initial amount of ₹100 crore. Its main Objectives are:
1.Prevent gender biased sex selective elimination
2.Ensure survival & protection of the girl child
3.Ensure education of the girl child

Sukanya Samridhi Yojana (Girl Child Prosperity Scheme)

It was launched in 2015 as part of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. Sukanya Samridhi Account’ can be opened at any time from the birth of a girl child till she attains the age of 10 years, with a minimum deposit of Rs 1000. A maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh can be deposited during the financial year. The scheme primarily ensures equitable share to a girl child in resources and savings of a family in which she is generally discriminated as against a male child.

Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA)

It was launched on 9th June, 2016. The scheme has been launched with the purpose of boosting the health care facilities for the pregnant women, especially the poor. Its main objectives are:
• Provide a healthy life to the pregnant women.
• Lowering the maternity mortality rate.
• Making pregnant women aware of their health issues/diseases.
• Making sure safe delivery and healthy life of the baby
The scheme is applicable for pregnant women in all Government hospitals across the country.
