Focus on Kashmir Issue and not on peace: Burhan Wani’s father
Srinagar, September 9: Slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s father Muzaffar Wani has said that everybody needs to focus on Kashmir issue and not on peace. If Kashmir issue is resolved then peace would certainly return in the Valley.
“The government is trying to return normalcy in the Valley without resolving Kashmir issue. But how can peace prevail in the Valley when you are not ready to find a solution to the matter. The government must talk to Pakistan,” he further added.
Senior Wani also claimed that the young people take up guns and support the armed revolution in Kashmir as consequence of the unaddressed Kashmir issue.
“People of Kashmir should be given their rights. The youth of Kashmir was forced to pick up guns because elections were rigged in 1987. No parent should ever have to bury their child. But our children are forced to take up guns. When I could not stop my child so how can I convince my neighbour’s child? Kashmir issue is not a news issue. Since 1947 we are facing this problem, “he said.
Wani held government responsible for failing to convince Hurriyat to take part in all-party delegation. “The BJP-PDP government is responsible for the current situation in Kashmir. There is no point for me to make an appeal for peace,” he remarked.
