Fog: Air traffic remains suspended for 4th day

Srinagar, November 26: Air traffic remained suspended for the fourth day today as fog and poor visibility in the Kashmir valley forced Air Traffic Control (ATC) not to operate any flight from Srinagar International Airport.

An official of the Srinagar International Airport said that due to poor visibility following dense fog, one GoAir flight and two Indgo flights have been cancelled which were scheduled to land.Fog

He said the sky remained cloudy and there was still no improvement in the visibility. However, decision about other flights will be taken later in the day.

Since November 23, a day after Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed introduced helicopter service to world famous ski resort of Gulmarg and health resort of Pahalgam from the airport, all incoming and outgoing flights were cancelled due to poor visibility.

This is for the first time in about a decade that flights from Srinagar airport were cancelled due to fog. However, in the past, flights were being cancelled due to snowfall on runway.
