Former Jammu and Kashmir law minister, Sheikh Muhammad Maqbool breathed his last in Srinagar today evening.
Sheikh Maqbool was close associate of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah during Mahaz Rai shumari movement.
He was first elected as ward member from Khawja bagh Baramulla in the year 1973 and was later elected as chairman Town Area Committee Baramulla.
Late Maqbool came in to state politics after he was given mandate by the National conference in the year 1983 which he won with flying colours.
Latter sheikh was again elected on the NC ticket from Baramulla constituency in the year 1987 and was appointed as law and parliamentary affairs minister.
