Four criminal escaped police custody in past three months, still untraced

Jammu, September 29: Not even a single person who escaped from the Kot Bhalwal Jail in the past three months has been re-arrested. There were four criminals including famous ‘supari killer’ Sunny Baba among the persons who runaway from the jail.

As reported in various newspapers on August 22nd of this year, notorious gangster and supari killer Sunny Choudhary alias Sunny Baba who was accused of involvement in the famous Amandeep Murder Case ran away from Government Medical College (GMC). Sunny Baba was in jail since March 2011 in various cases from supari killing to attempt to murder and murder. He was admitted in Recovery Ward of the GMC since July 11 this year after he complained of repeated ailments. On August 22, he went for bath in bathroom of Recovery Ward of the GMC Jammu and fled away after breaking window.

Also, a rape accused escaped from police custody on July 8 when he was taken for a medical check-up in Rajouri district and on September 14, a rape accused managed to break out of police custody when he was being shifted to Surankote from Poonch jail and four policemen were suspended in that case.

On Sunday only, an alcoholic accused of his mother’s murder broke bathroom window of Satwari Police Station and ran away. The police has conducted several raids but the accused criminals remain untraced.

After the accused ran away on Sunday, SSP Jammu Uttam Chand suspended Munshi Girdhari Lal and disengaged an ex-serviceman Chatur Singh for dereliction of duty. A departmental enquiry was also initiated against them.
