In a tragic incident, four students were killed on Wednesday evening as the car they were traveling in plunged into a 20-feet-deep open drain.
The deceased were identified as one Gaurav, Yogendra, Jyoti and Sakshi who were studying in different educational institutions. The Hyundai i10 car which lost control sank into the stinking muck with all the four youths trapped inside the car, the police said.
On receiving information regarding the accident, the industrial area police post in-charge Umaid Ali rushed to the spot. In an act of rare bravery, he jumped into the drain for saving the students but was too late. By the time the students were taken out of the drain with the help of local people, they were already dead.
The victims were immediately taken to the hospital but were declared brought dead.
Te incident was reported on the outskirts of Agra at Sikandra Industrial Estate, Police said.
