Fresh AIIMS Coordination Committee protests erupt at Dogra Chowk

Jammu, August 7: The AIIMS Coordination committee (CC) which had called off the Jammu Bandh two days ago has been continuing its agitation in the form of Dharna at Dogra Chowk. The 144-hour strike was called off after directions from the centre to identify 200 acres of Land (considered the first step) for AIIMS in Jammu and the same stretch in Kashmir.

The district administration yesterday had asked the Coordination committee (CC) to stop their Dharna adjoining the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh near Tawi Bridge link road, within 12 hours or face eviction proceedings under RPC. After the completion of the 12 hour period, late last evening, the administration removed the tent arrangement setup by the  CC. This has now led to the members and supporters of CC blocking the Tawi Bridge in protests against the administration to not allow the dharna which the members say is a fundamental right of the civil society.

The CC members and supporters were agitated by the removal of their tents and to keep the situation under control, police has been deployed on the spot of Dharna. Here are fresh and exclusive images of the protests by the members of the  CC which have just come in.
