With the modern sedentary lifestyle, we tend to pay lesser attention or simply ignore what we eat. The health standards easily go out of our concern and we don’t really look at the nutrient content of our food. This habit of ours has made us unhealthy eaters with an unhealthy routine.
Cholesterol is a substance generated by the lever and the high levels of LDL that is, bad Cholesterol is responsible for the increased risk of heart disease (CVD). We should make sure that we avoid taking it in high quantities. There are some measures to lower cholesterol levels and they are:
1. Consume fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants which prevent LDL Cholesterol from oxidizing and forming plaque deposits in the arteries.
2. Eat foods rich in soluble fibers, for example, beans, legumes, apples, citrus, etc.
3. Eat foods that are low in cholesterol. This would help to reduce the high levels.
4. Soya beans are rich proteins and research has found that soy proteins in soy foods have strong cholesterol-lowering effects. Consume soya beans, but not in excess.
