Jammu, January 15: Two ladies posing as lawyers has been arrested by Gandhi Nagar police today on Thursday for extorting money from a middle aged man.
As per reports , these impersonators were threatening the men for registering a false molestation case. The police has also recovered extortion money from their possession.
The complaint was registered by one Israr Mohammad who pleaded that he was travelling in a minibus when two girls in boyish outlook impersonating as young students came. One sat beside the complainant and other behind him. After some time, the one who sat beside him started waiving her hand on Israr’s face , he stopped her. After which the other girl came to him and started threatening him to report the case to police.
This girl told Israr that she is an advocate. He asked the girls to take anything for not registering the case. The girls took away his Identity Card, cash and other documents including his cell phone, but SIM card was returned to the complainant.
A while later, Israr got a call from the same girls to pay Rs. 20,000 or they will register a complaint against him. He paid the same for not being implicated in a false case that can ruin his reputation and endanger his job. After some day,the girls started calling him again and demanded Rs-30,000, owing to fear, he paid again.
After some days, they again called him and demanded more money. This time he mustered up some courage and lodged a complaint at Gandhi Nagar Police Station.
Police filed an FIR under relevant sections of law and SI Kirti Sharma started investigation into the case.
Thereafter, a Police team headed by Inspector Bishnesh Kumar, SHO Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of Shazaad Salaria, SP City South and overall supervision of Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu nabbed both the girls and recovered extorted money and other documents from their possession. Further investigation is going on; involvement in some other cases cannot be ruled out at this stage.
