Festive season in Jammu, sees traffic jams, crowded streets and what not. But, with festivities the rate of crime in the city increases manifold. Despite tightened securities and hightened vigil in Gandhi Nagar area, of Jammu, numerous untoward incidences are being reported on a daily basis, with theft and robbery cases taking the number one spot. The posh area of Jammu has become a hub of such activities, suggest latest trends.
One case of theft and one of chain snatching has been reported in Gandhi Nagar area whereas a case of mugging has been reported from Talab Tillo . A woman was shopping at Gandhi Nagar area when two snatchers came from behind on their motorbikes and snatched her gold chain. In another incident, fifteen thousand cash has been stolen from a car parked in Gandhi Nagar area. Thieves got into the car by breaking its window and stole Rs.15000 lying in the dash board of the car.
Both cases have been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police station and police had started the investigations.
This is not the first time that a case of theft has come to light. Earlier last week, a swift car with a kid in it was stolen by a gang which later left the child and took the car away.
In another incident reported from Talab Tillo, a person has been mugged by the thieves on the edge of the knives. Victim Naresh Kumar told police that about four men surrounded him, showed him knife and demanded all the cash and jewelry that he had with him. The victim has alleged that the thieves took away Rupees 16000 in cash, a gold ring and a gold chain.
