JAMMU : Five students of Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu have been suspended on account of violence within the campus. A minor tiff between a student and the employee of the hostel canteen led to serious clash.
The canteen employee sustained injuries and was immediately hospitalized after the incident. As the matter was brought into the notice of Police, senior Police officers visited the GCET campus. However, no case has yet been registered in this regard.
Late in the evening on Monday, the college authorities ordered suspension of the student who was accused of attacking the canteen boy while four others who were there for help have also been suspended.
According to the GCET Principal, Dr Smeru Sharma, joint meeting of the College Disciplinary Action Committee and the Hostel Management Committee will be held for deciding necessary action over the issue to ensure that such incidents do not repeat in future.
