Geelani and Malik ask militant outfits to probe the telecom attacks
Separatist leaders Mohammad Yasin Malik and Syed Ali Shah Geelani today urged militant outfits to investigate the recent attacks on the telecom sector which had forced shutdown of services in various North Kashmir towns.
While the police is suspecting militants behind these attacks, separatist groups and major leaders have been condemning the attack themselves. Malik told that militant groups led by Syed Salahuddin, chief of the Hizbul Mujahideen and Chairman of the United Jihad Council has clearly dissociated the group from these attacks. Malik has hence, asked Salahuddin to form a committee and probe the attacks. Malik said that there are two guns in Kashmir and both have condemned these attacks. Salahuddin should immediately form a committee to probe these attacks.
Hurriyat Chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani also condemned the attacks which have left two people dead in Sopore. Geelani termed these attacks as ‘terrorism’ and defended telecommunication, calling it as the lifeline. The absence of telecommunication will just create troubles. He criticized the attack and the gunmen who threatened and attacked the telecom companies. Geelani too, asked the militant groups to come up with a committee and probe these attacks. “The groups should investigate their ranks and investigate what is happening and see if there is any bad egg harming the movement,” he said.
The attacks have led to suspension of services provided by many private telecom companies in numerous North Kashmir towns, majorly in Sopore. Some telecom companies have temporarily stalled their services in adjoining towns of Baramulla, Handwara, Bandipora and Palhalan.
