Geelani decides to Boycott Eid-i-Milan function of Pakistan High Commissioner
Srinagar: In a first, octogenarian Hurriyat leader and chair of his Hurriyat faction, Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday decided not to attend Eid-i-Milan function of Pakistan High Commissioner at New Delhi.
Hurriyat (g) said that the decision has been taken in protest against “not including Kashmir in the joint statement” issued by Indian and Pakistani state in Ufa, Russia recently.
“We are not attending Eid-i-Milan organized by Pakistan High Commissioner at New Delhi; this is in protest against not mentioning ‘Kashmir’ in Ufa Russia meeting between PMs of India and Pakistan.”
Pertinently, Pakistan High Commissioner to Indian, Abdul Basit had invited Kashmiri separatist leaders to its mission on July 21to celebrate Eid-i-Milan at the end of holy month of Ramzan.
“Kashmiris cannot be taken for granted,” Hurriyat (g) asserted.
