Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone visited R.S.Pura and Suchetgarh with ex-MLA Suchetgarh Chaudhary Gharu Ram, ex- MP S.Tarlok Singh Bajwa, MLA Suchetgarh Ch. Sham Lal, to access the loss of wheat crop due to heavy rain.
The Minister asked for the constitution of joint teams of Agriculture and Revenue departments to assess crop losses suffered by farmers due to the recent rains in the region. The Minister instructed that the joint teams of Agriculture and Revenue Department shall assess the extent of damage to the standing crops including vegetables and other cultivations.
He was accompanied by Legislators, Mr. Kuldeep Raj, Mr. Rajiv Jasrotia, Additional District Development Commissioner Kathua Mr. N. S. Bali, Director Agriculture Jammu Dr. S. S. Jamwal, Director Command Area Development and other officer besides General Secretary, PDP Mr. Daman Bhasin, the Minister also visited Jandi, Bhana Chak, Sanyal, Jhangi Chak, Londi Morh, Mathura Chak, Chak Dhari, Darhalan, Barnoti, Chann Arorian and Barmori and interacted with the farmers there. Mr. Hanjura took stock of damages to standing crop of wheat, Mustard and vegetables in the district.
The Minister also urged for close coordination between the officers of Revenue and Agriculture and said that their joint efforts will help in speedy assessment of the losses. He asked them to prepare detailed report in this regard and submit the same to the Government so that compensation is given to the deserving people. The Minister directed the officers to aware farmers about state and centrally sponsored schemes by organizing awareness camps at block levels so that maximum farmers are benefitted.
Highlighting the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of PDP-BJP coalition government, the Minster said that the government was committed to provide better basic amenities to all. He said that the state government is people’s government adding that it has a missionary vision to provide good governance to the people and work towards all round development of the state.
MLA Hiranagar, Mr. Kuldeep Raj, MLA Kathua Mr. Rajiv Jasrotia and General Secretary PDP Mr. Daman Bhasin also interacted with the farmers at different places and highlighted the programmes and policies present PDP-BJP coalition government. They also assured the farmers that every possible help will be provided by the government to the rain affected people.
Responding to the demands, including installation of Bore Wells, put forth by the farmers, the Legislators assured that the same will be projected at the appropriate forum of the government for early redressal.
