Reliance Jio to offer free Wi-Fi to 38,000 colleges 

Indian operator Reliance Jio has submitted a plan for approval to the Human Resource Development Ministry to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity to over 38,000 technical and non-technical colleges across the country, The Hindustan Times reports. According to the same source, Jio has already made a presentation regarding this plan before the ministry in June and is currently waiting for the authority’s final decision.Universities to be involved in the project include Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Milia Islamia University, Central University-Himachal Pradesh, Central University-South Bihar and Central University-Jammu.

India’s Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar has already announced the upcoming launch on 31 August of a free Wi-Fi network covering 38 universities.
