Government bound by law to enforce beef ban: Minister

Jammu, September 21: Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister of Industries and Commerce, on Sunday said that the ban on the sale of beef was implemented in the state during the Maharaja’s time and state government is bound to enforce it in today’s time as well.

The minister was speaking on the foundation laying ceremony of Veterinary Sub Centre at Shah Talab in Bari Brahmana. He said that strict instructions have been issued to the Jammu and Kashmir Police to implement ban on the sale of beef in Jammu.

Ganga said that the police has also been given instructions to keep an eye on the transportation of bovine animals and to take stern action under the law on bovine smugglers.
