Government Employees Demonstrated for Several Demands Including Making Daily Wagers Permanent

Employees working in various government departments of Jammu and Kashmir demonstrated outside the exhibition ground on Wednesday, demanding permanent posting of the daily wagers and other demands.

Government employees and deliverers from different parts of the Jammu division gathered outside the exhibition ground in Jammu and raised slogans supporting their demands. During the demonstration under the banner of the J&K Government Employees Joint Action Committee, the employees said that the government had been continuously ignoring their legitimate demands, forcing them to adopt the path of agitation.

Heading the protest, the state president of the committee, Babu Hussain Malik, said that the organization would agitate till a decisive end to protect the rights of the employees. He said that he has been urging the government for his legitimate demands for a long time, but his legitimate demands are not being considered. Therefore, the committee today decided to hold a massive demonstration in Jammu.

On this occasion, Malik highlighted the demands of the employees to release the instalment of DA pending since January 2020, stop the process of forced retirement of employees, take concrete steps towards making all temporary workers permanent, 900 removed from ICDS. For reinstatement of personnel, implementation of Minimum Wage Act in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, removal of pay anomalies of clerical staff, increase in medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000, for clerical cadre on the lines of accounts and planning cadre. Furthermore, he raised the demand to prepare a separate department and seniority list, do DPC every six months, and fill the vacant posts in various government departments.
