Jammu, January 27: Over the much awaited decision of government reformation, the Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has planned to form alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party after February 03.
As per the plan, Mehbooba has decided to consult all the party men in both Jammu and Kashmir before the said date and then take a decision. While almost all of the legislators and former ministers are of view that any more delay should not be made in government formation in the state, Mehobooba has now kept all the options open according to sources.
Mehbooba was asked to take an oath on January 7 and January 8 but she refused and the state came under Governor’s rule. Mehbooba is keen to carry forward the North Pole-South Pole alliance of the right-wing BJP and Kashmir-centric PDP formed by her father but before taking any final decision she wants an assurance for the implementation of the components of Agenda of the Alliance by the BJP, say highly placed sources in the political circles.
They said that the party has scheduled a meeting with the Kashmir province leaders on January 31 and that of Jammu region on February 3 wherein all outstanding issues following Mufti Sayeed’s death would be addressed.
“Mehbooba wants to take her party on board on her decisions. The next couple of days are very crucial in the process of government formation,” said the sources.
However, the opposition parties National Conference and Congress are keenly watching the developments and the BJP has assured the PDP chief of its full support once she stakes claim to form the government.
