Appreciating the earnest efforts of teachers and students of Army Public School, in standing first in Academic Performance Index (API) among all Army Public Schools in India, Army had organised a felicitation ceremony at Army Public School Srinagar. The School had achieved this remarkable feat despite being totally submerged in the recent devastating floods in the Valley. In the process the School created a new record of 322.85 Army Public School India for Army School/Army Public Schools.
N.N.Vohra, Governor J&K, was the Guest of Honour. He was accompanied by Lt Gen Subrata Saha, GOC Chinar Corps. The event included the traditional lighting of the lamp by Hon’ble Governor, welcome address by GOC 15 Corps and address by Hon’ble Governor.
Opening the proceedings, Lt Gen Subrata Saha, Patron-in-Chief, welcomed all dignitaries attending the felicitation ceremony and applauded the remarkable feat achieved by the students and teachers of the School together against all odds. The Hon’ble Governor then felicitated the meritorious students and teachers for their outstanding performance. The students who excelled in academics felicitated by the Hon’ble Governor were Tabish Nisar khan, Arshjot Singh, Tavleen Kaur, Sahiba, Dhruv Negi, Pooja Kaur, Simer Kaur, Shariq Mushtaq, Fatima Manzoor and Syed Fahir Andrabi. Apart from the students, the teachers of the Senior School Mr Rayees Ahmed, Mr Muzzafer Ahmed, Mr Khan Masroor, Mr Shafat, Mr Vijay Kumar, Ms Nazima Shafi, Mr Imtiyaz Ahd, Mr Vinod ji Bhatt, Mr Ashok Sadhu and the Principal of the School, Mr Sandeep Marhatta, who had received Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on 29 April 2015 for his distinguished work in field of education, were also felicitated by the Hon’ble Governor.
In his address, the Governor mentioned as to how the Chinar Corps, despite being itself submerged in devastating floods, helped out in rescue and restoration missions in the Valley. He appreciated the efforts of APS, Srinagar in not only restoring back the school machinery in a prompt manner but also attaining the highest results in the field of education where in APS, Srinagar achieved 100% results in class 12th Board examinations, displaying unparalleled distinguished performance amongst 134 Army Public Schools in the country.
The culmination of event was marked by a group photograph of Hon’ble Governor with the achievers after which the Hon’ble Governor met all the Army as well as Civil staff of the school and commended them personally for taking the level of education to the highest possible standards in spite of prevalent security situation and devastating floods in the Valley.

- GoC Amarnath Yatra- General Officer Commanding 15 Corps said that “Operation Shiva” is going to be launched on 2nd July and all security measures are already taken to run smooth yatra. Army will provide both medical and communication facilities.
