Governor Satya Pal Malik will chair a high level security meet today with Panchayat elections due to start in Jammu and Kashmir later in November high on the agenda.
According to sources, the meeting scheduled for Friday in the winter capital Jammu will be attended by top police, army, security, intelligence and administrative officials who will brief the Governor.
The upcoming Panchayat elections, due to start from in two weeks will be high up on the agenda besides security along the International Border with Pakistan and the Line of Control.
The aftermath of the deaths of seven civilians in a blast at the site of a gun battle in Kulgam recently will also be discussed in the light of the existing Standard Operating Procedure for the government forces.
Besides this overall prevailing security situation will be discussed during the meeting.
Strategy of holding Panchayat elections in peaceful manner will also be discussed during the meeting.
Security of Srinagar-Jammu highway, Mughal Road and Simthan road will also be a part of discussion.
The prevailing scenario at IB and LoC is also on the agenda.
Challenges for the counter-infiltration grid during winter would also be discussed during the meeting.
The meeting is likely to be attended by GOC Northern Army Commander, Advisors to the Governor, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, GOC 15 Corps, Principal Secretary to Governor, Principal Secretary Home, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGPs of Kashmir, Jammu and heads of intelligence agencies operating in state.
